I know I promised to share my photographs from my trip to Las Vegas – and believe me, they’re worth the wait – but I just had to tell you the news.
We won the lottery. Not the massive £8 million that some lucky beggars from Liverpool just won, mind. But enough to afford another holiday this year. Elizabeth and I have enough to live comfortably on and we don’t really need to save the money for anything.
So we’ve decided to go to Australia. Naturally, we’re both very excited. We’ve never been before, so we don’t have any real idea of what to expect.
After a long discussion over tea last week, we have chosen to go to the East coast. We’re staying in the lovely Rainbow Ocean Palms Resort, just outside of Brisbane; clear water, blue skies, big meaty crocodile steaks. I can’t help but feel a little spoilt – as we’re only just recovered from our trip to Las Vegas – but I guess, like in blackjack, if your number comes up, you’re on to a winner. Naturally, I’m excited about the casinos. It’s a shame we’re so far away from Sydney; I’ve heard the casinos there are inspiring. This holiday needs some research. Naturally, I’m hoping the online blackjack sites will come through for me.
Don’t tell Elizabeth I called it that. I think she’d revoke my internet privileges!
Still, I’ve got plenty of time to find some local gambling centres near to our resort. I may even consider trying my hand at a new game. I’ve heard things like sports bets are quite big in Australia. Today, I even found out that slot machines are called pokies.
It’s going to be a long few months or research. I’m using the internet to aid my investigation, although I think Elizabeth is taking a different track. She’s going to watch Neighbours every day until we go.
I hope she doesn’t drag me in to watch it.
